Free Cells
A little space can change the whole deal.
Saving is unavailable in this browser. You can keep playing, but this session may not be kept after you leave.
How to play Free Cells
Move a full deck of 52 cards into four suit foundations, from Ace to King. Three first-party seeded challenge deals each have a verified complete solution. Use four free cells and empty columns to make room for ordered runs.
- Columns build downward in alternating colors. A descending alternating run can move together only when enough temporary spaces are available. Free cells each hold one card. Empty columns accept any rank.
- The transfer limit is (empty free cells + 1) multiplied by two for every available empty column. An empty destination column is not a temporary space, so it does not count toward that move’s limit.
- Foundations build upward within one suit. Cards placed there cannot be manually returned, but Undo reverses a move. Send a safe card moves one eligible exposed card only when the conservative foundation safety rule permits it.
Controls at a glance
- Touch or mouse
- Tap the first card of a run, then a destination card, column number, free cell or foundation. Tap the same selection again to cancel. On narrow screens, swipe the table sideways to reach every column.
- Keyboard
- Tab reaches cards and destinations. Arrow keys move among columns, cards and the upper piles. Enter or Space selects or moves; Escape cancels the selection.
- Undo and deals
- Undo reverses one recorded move. Choose Next deal, then Start selected deal to confirm replacing the current attempt. Completed deal records stay saved.
A few things worth trying
- Keep a free cell available when you can. Filling all four sharply reduces the length of runs you can transfer.
- An empty column doubles transport capacity, except when it is the destination. Look at the preview before selecting a long run.
- Uncover low cards without burying useful alternating runs. Sending a card home too early can remove a needed landing place; Undo lets you reconsider.
Good to know
Are the deals guaranteed solvable?
The three included full-deck challenge deals have verified legal solution sequences. These are Tapovibe deal numbers, not identifiers from other apps. This is not a claim that every possible random FreeCell deal is solvable.
What does the safe-card button do?
It moves one exposed card to its foundation when it is an Ace or two, or when the other suit foundations are sufficiently advanced. Nothing moves automatically without your action.
Does Show a legal move solve the deal?
No. It highlights a legal transfer, prioritizing safe foundation moves. A legal suggestion can still lead to a difficult position.
What is saved?
The selected deal, complete move history and completed deal records stay in this browser. Refresh replays the history, so Undo remains available. Starting a different deal replaces the active attempt.
