How to play Slide Grove

Slide matching numbers together and grow a 2048 tile. Every valid move adds a new seed, so keeping room to move matters as much as making a big merge.

  1. Slide all tiles left, right, up or down. Matching neighbors combine into their sum, once per tile in each move.
  2. A successful classic slide adds a 2 or 4 to an empty space. Challenges instead add a 2 in a repeatable position order. A direction that changes nothing adds no tile and spends no challenge move.
  3. Reach 2048 to win, then keep growing if you like. The classic run ends when no direction can move or merge a tile. Target challenges offer six authored starting boards: grow the requested value in the outlined square within a move budget.

Controls at a glance

Touch
Swipe across the board, or use the four direction buttons.
Keyboard

Undo
Undo the most recent successful slide, including the newly added tile.

A few things worth trying

  • Keep your biggest tile near one corner and build smaller values beside it. Moving that anchor often costs valuable space.
  • Look for empty cells before chasing a large merge. A full board with scattered values can lock up even when your score is high.
  • Tiles merge only once per move: a row of four 2s becomes two 4s, not one 8. Plan the second slide too.

Good to know

How is this different from Number Grove?

Slide Grove moves the whole board and grows a new tile after each valid turn. Number Grove moves only a selected neighboring pair and never fills empty spaces.

Will my board survive a reload?

The classic board, score and best score save separately from challenge progress. Challenge paths are replayed to restore the current board and verify unlocks. Challenge Undo removes one move even after a refresh; classic Undo lasts only while the page stays open and is cleared when switching modes.

What happens after 2048?

You can continue playing to build larger values, or restart. Your best score stays saved.
