Tile Pairs
Uncover a little garden, pair by pair.
Saving is unavailable in this browser. You can keep playing, but this session may not be kept after you leave.
How to play Tile Pairs
Clear three layered tile gardens by matching identical plants. Raised tiles cover lower ones, so the order matters. There is no timer and every removal can be undone.
- A tile is free only when nothing overlaps it from above and at least one horizontal side is open. Darker tiles are blocked.
- Select two free tiles bearing the same plant name to remove them. Choosing a different plant changes your selection without removing anything.
- Clear every tile to finish the garden. If no free pair remains, undo one or more removals or restart the layout.
Controls at a glance
- Touch or mouse
- Select two matching free tiles. A dark tile cannot be removed until its covering tiles or neighboring blockers are cleared.
- Keyboard
- Tab to the board. Arrow keys move among free tiles; Enter or Space selects.
- Undo and hints
- Undo restores the last pair, including after a clear. Show a free pair highlights one legal pair without moving it.
A few things worth trying
- Clear the higher layers to expose more choices below. Matching an easy pair at the edge is not always the best first move.
- When four copies of a plant are available, consider which pair will uncover the most useful tile.
- Use Undo freely if the board runs out of matches. Restart repeats the same deal so you can learn its structure.
Good to know
Are these starting layouts solvable?
Each of the three deterministic deals is assigned plant pairs using a verified legal removal sequence. Your own choices can still lead to a dead end.
Is this a memory game?
No. Tile faces are visible wherever they are not covered. The challenge is choosing an order that opens the layers and side edges.
What is saved?
The current garden, legal removal history and cleared gardens are saved in this browser. Undo remains available after refresh.
