How to play Klondike Solitaire
Bring all fifty-two cards home, from Ace through King in each of the four suit foundations. Three fixed, verified deals start with seven tableau columns and twenty-four cards in the stock. Draw one card at a time and uncover what lies beneath.
- Build tableau columns downward in alternating red and black colors. Move a face-up ordered run as a unit. Only a King, or a run beginning with a King, may fill an empty column.
- Each stock press draws one card onto the waste. Only the waste’s top card can move. When the stock is empty, recycle the waste without changing its order; stock passes are unlimited.
- Move one matching-suit card at a time to its foundation. Foundation cards may return to the tableau when needed. Uncovering a hidden card automatically turns it face up. Win when all four foundations reach King.
Controls at a glance
- Touch or mouse
- Select an exposed card or the first card of an ordered run, then select a destination card or column heading. Press Draw or Recycle on the stock. The table pans sideways on narrow phones.
- Keyboard
- Tab to the card table. Arrow keys move among visible cards, column headings and upper piles. Enter or Space selects; Escape cancels. D draws one card when focus is inside the table.
- Recovery and new deals
- Undo reverses the last move, draw, recycle or automatic reveal. Select Next deal and press Start selected deal to change boards; confirmation protects a round already in progress.
A few things worth trying
- Prioritize exposing hidden cards. Moving a long run is useful when it uncovers a new card or opens a place for a King.
- Do not fill an empty column with the first King you see without checking the color of its Queen. Another King may unlock a deeper column.
- The Safe card button moves one conservative foundation candidate at a time. Nothing is sent automatically, and Undo can return it.
Good to know
Are all three deals winnable?
Each fixed seed was verified with a complete legal solution using all fifty-two cards. Your own choices can still leave an awkward position. Undo, stock recycling and returning foundation cards give you room to reconsider.
Is this draw one or draw three?
Draw one. Every press exposes exactly one stock card. There is no timer or score penalty for recycling, and no draw-three mode is advertised.
Does the hint solve the deal?
No. Legal move highlights an available action, often a reveal or foundation move. It does not search for a winning continuation from your current board.
What is saved?
The deal seed, replayable action history and completed-deal records stay in this browser. Reload restores the stock, waste, hidden cards and undo history. A round retains up to 3,000 actions; at that limit you can undo or start another deal.
Can I move a foundation card back?
Yes, the exposed foundation card can return to a legal tableau destination. This differs from the final-only foundations used in Tapovibe Free Cells.
