Snake Trail
A longer trail. A little less room to turn.
Saving is unavailable in this browser. You can keep playing, but this session may not be kept after you leave.
How to play Snake Trail
Guide a growing trail through three original gardens. Each clay seed adds one segment. Fill every open cell to complete the garden, or return for a better score after a collision.
- Move one cell at a steady pace. A wall, marked stone or occupied body segment ends the run. The departing tail cell is safe when you are not collecting a seed.
- You cannot reverse straight into your neck. Up to two distinct legal turns can be queued, one for each upcoming step. Repeated key holds do not make the trail move faster.
- Open meadow is a gentle six-by-six field. Hedge bends adds planted barriers; Stone passages is larger and faster. The chosen garden applies only when you start a new trail.
Controls at a glance
- Touch or mouse
- Start the trail, then use the four large direction buttons. You may also swipe across the garden to queue a direction.
- Keyboard
- Focus the garden or its controls and use arrow keys or WASD. P pauses or resumes; Space on the garden does the same.
- Pause and restart
- Pause freezes the run. Leaving the browser tab or opening the restart confirmation also pauses; resume explicitly. New trail begins the selected garden and keeps personal bests.
A few things worth trying
- Look beyond the seed. A short route to food is not always a safe route for your growing body.
- Keep a broad path around the outside and avoid splitting the remaining free space into small pockets.
- The head is dark with a pale dot; the tail is light. Marked gray cells are stones, not food. At tight corners, queue a second turn only after choosing the first.
Good to know
Can every garden be filled?
Each original layout has a verified cycle through all open cells. Staying on a suitable cycle can fill the garden, although shorter paths may leave you trapped.
What is saved?
Your selected garden and best seed score for each garden stay in this browser. A refresh starts a fresh, paused run; the moving body is not restored.
Does food ever appear inside the body or a stone?
No. Every new seed is selected from currently empty open cells. When none remain, the garden is complete.
Are runs random?
Each garden restarts with the same seed sequence. Food placement also depends on which cells your body occupies when you eat, so different routes can lead to different later seed locations.
